It is important that before going on a walk, you consider whether you are sufficiently fit and prepared. All the walks undertaken by the Club are given a grading from easiest to hardest and participants can use the grade description to ensure they are able to enjoy the experience.
- Grade 1 - Easiest. 5Km or less, and generally flat. No steps and the track is well formed and clearly sign posted. No experience is required.
- Grade 2 - Easy. 10 Km or less, perhaps with gentle hills and occasional steps. The tracks are generally well formed and are clearly sign posted. No experience is required.
- Grade 3 - Moderate. Less than 20 Km, and may have short steep hills, steps, and some simple obstacles. Generally a clearly defined track with sign posts, but some experience is recommended
- Grade 4 - Hard. May be greater than 20 Km and may have many steep sections, steps and obstacles to scramble over or around. Generally a distinct rough track or route but there is limited signage. Walkers should be experienced and have some navigation skills.
- Grade 5 - Hardest. May be greater than 20 Km and may be very steep, rough, and with difficult obstacles to negotiate. The route may be rough and unformed, indistinct or no track at all, and there may be no signage. For very experienced walkers with good navigation skills.
